Congratulations to Mr. Dennis Litteken, our Disciple of the Week for the week of September 7!  In her nomination, Campus Minister Ms. Colleen McDermott stated, “It is truly my pleasure to nominate our principal, Mr. Dennis Litteken, as the Disciple of the Week.  Through the summer and continuing into the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, Dennis has been working tirelessly, all while keeping the best interest of the Mater Dei students, families, and staff in mind.  Dennis’ dedication and commitment to Mater Dei has been visible through his continual efforts to develop ways to have the Mater Dei students in school safely.  Dennis has also done a tremendous job keeping up with the policies and regulations put forth by the State of Illinois and the Diocese of Belleville.  Thank you so much, Dennis, for all of the effort you have put forth to begin the school year in-person and for your continual dedication to Mater Dei!”

Mr. Alex Normansell
Congratulations to Mr. Alex Normansell, our Disciple of the Week for the week of September 21!  In his nomination, Principal Mr. Dennis Litteken stated, “I am pleased to select Alex Normansell as our Disciple of the Week.  Alex recently led his students to the visitation of the late Mr. Dave Varel, who is the father of their fellow band member Aiden Varel.  After the students offered their condolences, Mr. Normansell gathered them outside and led them in prayer.  He also reached out to Aiden throughout the week.  Thank you, Mr. Normansell, for demonstrating compassion and for offering support during a difficult time!”  In addition to serving as the director of our chorus, concert band, indoor percussion, jazz band, marching band, and wind ensemble, Mr. Normansell also teaches Arts Appreciation and History of American Music (dual credit).

She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful!  Moreover, Emily continues to assist teachers and students with technology.  She demonstrates true leadership qualities through her service to others!”  In addition to teaching Biology A, English II, English IIA, Practical Writing, and Short Literature, Emily serves as the sophomore class advisor, moderator of Book Club, and co-moderator of newspaper and Scholar Bowl.
