The members of the Mater Dei community are excited to share the unique opportunities we offer our students and their families! Thus, we invite prospective families to attend the events listed below.
For families of students enrolled in grade 8, please print our “Journey to Joining our Class of 2027,” which lists dates for and descriptions of all steps included in the enrollment process. (The schedule will be updated when “tba” dates have been finalized.)
Families who are unable to attend an event are invited to contact Mrs. Maria Zurliene, Director of Enrollment, to receive information or to schedule an appointment. (618-526-7216, ext 105 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
OPEN HOUSE: Sunday, November 6, 2022, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
For families with students enrolled in grades 5 through 8, our Open House provides an opportunity to receive a wealth of information regarding our development of students’ faith, extensive and multi-level curriculum, numerous and varied extracurricular activities and athletics, opportunities for scholarships and tuition assistance, and free transportation (south to Mt. Vernon/east to Salem: Mt. Vernon—Salem—Odin—Sandoval—Carlyle; north to Highland; and west to I-64/Air Mobility Drive: O’Fallon—Lebanon—New Baden—Trenton).
Members of Student Ambassadors also provide guests with a tour of our campus (approximately 30 minutes).
As an Open House, the event does not utilize a specific schedule. Instead, families may arrive at the time of their choice, visit the informational tables of their choice, and join a tour at the time of their choice. (Due to the limited number of Student Ambassadors, families may experience a brief wait until two or three families are available for a tour. In addition, we attempt to begin the final tours at 1:40 p.m.)
CLASS OF 2027 INFORMATION NIGHT: December (date tba), 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
For families of students enrolled in grade 8, our Class of 2027 Information Night provides parents and students with the opportunity to obtain information related to our spiritual, academic, and extracurricular programs, with an emphasis on the freshman experience; the enrollment process; and scholarships and tuition assistance.
Following a presentation by the administration, parents will attend sessions with our department chairs, and students will attend sessions with our Student Ambassadors.
PLACEMENT TEST (PSAT 8/9): December (Saturday date tba), 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The results of the placement test (PSAT 8/9) are utilized by our department chairs to determine course recommendations. The course recommendations are provided to families at the time of registration. (There is no fee to complete the test.)
In the near future, an online registration form will be provided. If you encounter technical difficulties, please contact Mrs. Maria Zurliene (618-526-7216 or email@example.com).
Students must bring a calculator and two #2 pencils and may choose to bring a snack and water bottle.
NOTE: Students enrolled at the following schools will complete the test through their school on a different date: Albers, All Saints Academy, Aviston, Bartelso, Breese, Damiansville, Germantown, and St. Rose. These students are not required to take the test at Mater Dei, as we will automatically receive the results.
NOTE: A student who is not enrolled in the previously listed schools, but who completes the PSAT 8/9 test at his/her school, may provide the results to Mater Dei (and not retake the test at Mater Dei).
REGISTRATION: Saturday, February 25, 2023, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Prior to registration, parents will receive a packet of information and required forms. At registration, parents and students will meet with a teacher to discuss the course recommendations and to select courses. Parents will also have the opportunity to obtain applications for scholarships and tuition assistance. Finally, students will return a form to indicate their interest in extracurricular activities (activities and athletics). (At a later date, students will receive information regarding applicable summer activities based on their selected interests.) The $50 non-refundable registration fee, due at the time of registration, is applied to the course and activities fee (due in August).
NOTE: February 25, 2023, is only the “opening day” of registration, as we will continue to register students on an individual basis. We do not possess a registration deadline. (Please note that students must be registered in order to apply for scholarships (deadline May 1) and tuition assistance.)
FRESHMAN WELCOME: May (date tba)
The Freshman Welcome, held in late May, provides an opportunity for registered incoming freshmen to celebrate joining the Mater Dei family and to meet their future classmates. Welcoming in nature, the event includes activation of student email accounts, participation in social activities, and distribution of Mater Dei spirit items, including a shirt. Following the event, families receive information related to preparing for the new school year, including a supply list, a list of Parent Ambassadors (to contact for information), and a list of the opening days of the new school year.
