The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the second quarter of the 2022-2023 academic year.  These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition.  Please join us in congratulating them and their families!

 

Senior Brendan Strieker, the son of Roger and Lisa Strieker of Aviston.  Throughout his academic career, Brendan has enrolled in multiple honors courses in English, math, and science including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior.  For his academic achievements, he has earned two academic letters.  Outside the classroom, Brendan is a four-year member of the baseball team, the soccer team, and Pep Club; a three-year member of National Honor Society; and a first-year member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).  As a senior, he served as a captain for the soccer team.  Finally, Brendan is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry, as well as a Luke 18 confirmation retreat volunteer.  Following graduation, he plans to pursue a degree in business or finance, but has not yet selected an educational institution.

 

Senior Carissa Litteken, the daughter of Mark and Jenny Litteken of Aviston.  Throughout her academic career, Carissa has enrolled in multiple honors courses in English and math, including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior.  Outside the classroom, Carissa is a four-year member of band (two years concert band, two years wind ensemble), the basketball team, and the soccer team; a three-year member of National Honor Society and Pep Club; a two-year member of Student Ambassadors and the track and field team; and a first-year member of FFA, for which she serves as president, and Teens for Life.  In addition, she is a member of Aviston 4-H Aces and Clinton County Teen Leaders of Tomorrow (4-H Federation).  Finally, Carissa is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry.  Following graduation, she plans to attend Kaskaskia College to begin pursuing a degree in nursing.

 

Junior Daniel Goring, the son of Kevin and Jackie Goring of Pocahontas.  Since his freshman year, Daniel has enrolled in all but one honors course for English, math, and science, including American Literature Honors, Composition Honors, Chemistry Honors, and Pre-Calculus, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) American History, as a junior.  For his academic achievements, he earned an academic letter as a sophomore.  Outside the classroom, Daniel is a three-year member of the cross country team and the track and field team, a two-year member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and National Honor Society, and a first-year member of Chess Club and Peer Tutors.  As a freshman, he earned the Boys Track and Field Spirit Award.  Finally, Daniel is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

 

Junior Coryn Toennies, the daughter of Aaron and Chris Toennies of Germantown.  Since her freshman year, Coryn has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Algebra II Honors, Chemistry Honors, and Composition Honors as a junior.  For her academic achievements, she earned an academic letter as a sophomore and received awards for Theology I and Theology II.  Outside the classroom, Coryn is a three-year member of the cross country team, a two-year member of National Honor Society, and a first-year member of the track and field team.  For cross country, she received the Most Improved Award as a freshman.  Finally, Coryn is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she serves as a Children’s Liturgy volunteer and a server.

 

Sophomore Logan Driemeyer, the son of Dereck and Jessica Driemeyer of Highland.  In both his freshman and sophomore year, Logan enrolled in college-preparatory courses.  Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of the bowling team.  In addition, he assists Mrs. Grapperhaus with the PowerPoint display in the library and Mrs. Carroll with caring for our therapy dog, Coco.  In his community, Logan is a member of Boy Scout Troop 8040 and volunteers at Highland Knights of Columbus Hall.  Finally, Logan is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he volunteers as a server.

 

Sophomore Reagan Porter, the daughter of Erik and Nicole Porter of Breese.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Reagan enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English II Honors and Geometry Honors as a sophomore.  For her academic achievements, she received an award for Algebra I.    Outside the classroom, Reagan is a two-year member of concert band, marching band, Mass Set Up Crew, and pep band; and a first-year member of chorus, Peer Tutors, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Student Ambassadors.  As a freshman, she received a Knight Award (yearbook) and the Marching Knights Outstanding Freshman Award and was selected for the Clinton County Honor Band.  Finally, Reagan is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she serves as a lector, and Breese Youth Ministry.

 

Freshman Owen Musenbrock, the son of Dan and Julie Musenbrock of Germantown.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Owen’s courses include English I Honors, Geometry (traditionally a sophomore class), and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, he is a member of the golf team.  Finally, Owen is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

 

 

Freshman Amelia Beer, the daughter of Danny and Jamie Beer of Highland.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Amelia’s courses include English I Honors, Geometry (traditionally a sophomore class), and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, she is a member of the basketball team, Pep Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Student Ambassadors.  She also plans to join the soccer team.  Finally, Amelia is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
