The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the second quarter of the 2021-2022 academic year.  These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition.  Please join us in congratulating them and their families!

 

Senior Quin Rackers, the son of Bruce and Amy Rackers of O’Fallon.  Throughout his academic career, Quin has enrolled in all but one of the honors courses offered in English, math, and science, including Calculus, English Composition 101, and English Composition 102 as a senior.  For his academic achievements, Quin earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar and two academic letters.  Outside the classroom, he is a four-year member of the soccer team and a three-year member of National Honor Society.  For soccer, Quin received the Most Technical Player Award and was named to the IHSSCA Honorable Mention All-Sectional Team as a junior and served as team captain and was named to the IHSSCA All-Sectional Team as a senior.  Moreover, he holds records for both career and single-season assists.  Finally, Quin is a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server, gift bearer, greeter, and usher.  Following graduation, he plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy or occupational therapy, but has not yet selected an educational institution.

 

Senior Maggie Mensing, the daughter of Michael and Monica Mensing of Breese.  Throughout her academic career, Maggie has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Calculus, English Composition 101, English Composition 102, and Physics Honors as a senior.  For her academic achievements, Maggie earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar, two academic letters, and an award for American History.  Outside the classroom, she is a four-year member of cheerleading and Pep Club, a three-year member of National Honor Society, and a two-year member of Future Business Leaders of American.  Finally, Maggie is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.  Following graduation, she plans to attend Bradley University and to pursue a degree in physical therapy.

 

Junior Jacob Pollmann, the son of Jim and Angie Pollmann of Breese.  Since his freshman year, Jacob has enrolled in all honors courses for math, including Algebra II Honors as a junior.  Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of National Honor Society.  Finally, Jacob is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server, and Breese Youth Ministry, for which he serves as a Luke 18 confirmation retreat leader.

 

Junior Madelyn Vogelbacher, the daughter of Brad and Janet Vogelbacher of Highland.  Since her freshman year, Madelyn has enrolled in college-preparatory courses.  Outside the classroom, she is a three-year member of the band (two years concert band, one year jazz band), the bowling team, the pep band, St. Vincent de Paul Society, for which she currently serves as president, and Teens for Life; and a two-year member of National Honor Society.  For concert band, Madelyn earned the Most Improved Woodwind Award as a sophomore.  For bowling, as a sophomore and as a freshman, she earned the Best Spare Percentage Award and the Highest Average Award.  Finally, Madelyn is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and St. Paul Youth Organization.

 

Sophomore Simon Toennies, the son of Roger and Gwen Toennies of Damiansville.  In both his freshman and sophomore year, Simon has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors as a sophomore.  For his academic achievements, Simon received an award for Algebra I Honors.  Outside the classroom, he serves as class president and is a first-year member of Future Business Leaders of America, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council.  Finally, Simon is a member of St. Damian Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server, and St. Bernard-St. Damian Youth Ministry, for which he serves as a confirmation retreat leader.

 

Sophomore Avery Pingsterhaus, the daughter of Troy and Stephanie Pingsterhaus of Aviston.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Avery has enrolled in all honors courses for English and math, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors, as well as Biology Honors, as a sophomore.  For her academic achievements, Avery received an award for Algebra I Honors.  Outside the classroom, she is a two-year member of cheerleading, Pep Club, and Student Council, for which she serves as treasurer; and a first-year member of Future Business Leaders of America and Student Ambassadors.  For cheerleading, Avery received the Most Improved Award and the Coaches Award as a freshman.  Finally, she is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Youth Ministry.

 

Freshman Jonathan Marble, the son of Jamie and Stephen Eros of Belleville and Troy Marble of O’Fallon.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Jonathan has enrolled in college-preparatory courses.  Outside the classroom, he is a member of the chorus and indoor percussion.  Finally, Jonathan is a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server and choir member.

 

Freshman Alyssa Koerkenmeier, the daughter of Dan and Cheryl Koerkenmeier of St. Rose.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Alyssa’s courses include English I Honors and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, she is a member of the basketball team, Future Business Leaders of America, Pep Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Spanish Club, Teens for Life, and the volleyball team.  Finally, Alyssa is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
