The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter, who were selected by the faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition for the first quarter.  Please join us in congratulating these students and their families!

Senior Reece Lampe, the son of Troy and Wendy Lampe of Breese.  Throughout his academic career, Reece has enrolled in multiple honors English courses, including English Composition 101 and 102 as a senior.  As a junior, he received the award for Art Graphics.  Outside the classroom, Reece is a four-year member of band ensembles (three years jazz band, one year concert band), indoor percussion, marching band, and pep band; and a three-year member of National Honor Society.  Finally, he is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.  Following graduation, Reece plans to major in art.

Senior Katie Toennies, the daughter of Wayne and Angie Toennies of Bartelso.  Throughout her academic career, Katie has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Calculus, English Composition 101 and 102, and Physics Honors as a senior.  For her academic achievements, she earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar and received awards for Advanced Placement (AP) American History, Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, Composition Honors, English I Honors, English II Honors, Geometry Honors, Pre-Calculus, Spanish I, and Theology III.  Outside the classroom, Katie is a four-year member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Student Council, and Teens for Life; a three-year member of National Honor Society, Peer Helpers, Pep Club, and Student Ambassadors; a two-year member of Academic Challenge Team and Peer Tutors; and the senior class treasurer.  As a junior, she received awards for FBLA and Student Council and earned recognition at the Southwestern Area FBLA Conference (first place in financial math and second place in marketing) and regional ACES Academic Challenge (second place in math and third place in engineering).  In the community, Katie volunteers at the Clinton County Humane Society.  Finally, she is a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, where she serves as a confirmation retreat leader, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, server, and VBS volunteer.  Following graduation, she plans to major in civil engineering and surveying.

Junior Logan Mattson, the son of Brian and Nancy Mattson of Germantown.  Since his freshman year, Logan as enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science, including American Literature Honors, Chemistry Honors, Composition Honors, and Pre-Calculus as a junior.  For his academic achievements, he received awards for Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, English II Honors, Geometry, Health, Spanish II, and Theology II.  Outside the classroom, Logan is a three-year member of the baseball team and soccer team, for which he serves as a captain; and a two-year member of National Honor Society and Pep Club.  For soccer, he received the Most Improved Player award as a sophomore.  Finally, Logan is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Junior Trina Brokering, the daughter of Glenn and Renee Brokering of New Baden.  Since her freshman year, Trina has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for English, math, and science, including American Literature Honors, Composition Honors, and Pre-Calculus as a junior.  For her academic achievements, she received an award for Algebra I Honors.  Outside the classroom, Trina is a three-year member of band ensembles (two years concert band, two years wind ensemble), indoor percussion, marching band, and the soccer team; a two-year member of National Honor Society; and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors.  Finally, Trina is a member of St. George Catholic Church, where she serves as a confirmation retreat leader, member of SGM Life Teen (youth ministry), and server.

Sophomore Landon Albers, the son of Dean and Marleen Albers of Breese.  In both his freshman and sophomore year, Landon has enrolled in the honors mathematics courses, including Geometry Honors as a sophomore.  Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of the baseball team, basketball team, and soccer team.  In the community, Landon volunteers at the Campus Kitchen at St. Louis University.  Finally, he is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where he is a server.

Sophomore Callie Caylor, the daughter of Jason and Paula Caylor of Mulberry Grove.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Callie has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science, including Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Biology Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors as a sophomore.  For her academic achievements, she received awards for Algebra I Honors and American Government.  Outside the classroom, Callie is a two-year member of concert band, the fall play cast, Liturgical Planning Team, Scholar Bowl, the spring musical cast, The Knight yearbook staff, and The Lance newspaper staff; and a first-year member of Book Club, chorus, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Liturgical Music Group, Spanish Club, and Student Ambassadors.  Finally, Callie is a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she serves as a Catholic Heart Work Camp volunteer, lector, and server.

Freshman Cohen Wiegers, the son of Mark Wiegers and Dinah Sudholt of Aviston.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Cohen’s courses include Algebra I Honors, English I Honors, and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, he is a member of chorus, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Scholar Bowl, Teens for Life, and The Knight yearbook staff.  Finally, Cohen is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Freshman Ellen Nuxoll, the daughter of Michael and Angela Nuxoll of Highland.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Ellen’s courses include Geometry Honors and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, she is a member of chorus, concert band, the fall play cast, indoor percussion, marching band, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Scholar Bowl, Student Council, Teens for Life, and The Knight yearbook staff.  Finally, Ellen is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she serves as a member of St. Paul Youth Ministry and a server.
