The administration and faculty are pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the first quarter.  The Students of the Quarter are selected from the students who earned recognition on high honor roll or honor roll.

 

Senior Drew Timmermann is the son of Patrick and Linda Timmermann of Breese.  Throughout his academic career, Drew has enrolled in multiple honors mathematics and science courses.  As a senior, in addition to Calculus and Physics Honors, his courses include English Composition 101 and 102.  For his academic achievements, he received awards for Geometry and Accounting Principles. Outside the classroom, Drew is a four-year member of the football team and a three-year member of National Honor Society.  He also was selected as a homecoming attendant his junior year.  In the community, Drew serves as a member of Breese Columbian Squires Circle #3115.  Finally, he is a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where he serves as an usher.  Following graduation, Drew plans to study engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

 

Senior Ciara Perkes is the daughter of Bruce and Rose Perkes of Aviston.  Throughout her academic career, Ciara has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English Composition 101 and 102 as a senior.  For her academic achievements, she received awards for Health and Web Page Design.  Outside the classroom, Ciara is a four-year member of the basketball team, a three-year member of National Honor Society, and a two-year member of Student Ambassadors.  Additionally, she serves as a mentor group leader, assisted in creating P.O.P.S. (Power of Positive Students), and was selected as a homecoming attendant her freshman year.  Finally, Ciara is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where she serves as a eucharistic minister.  Following graduation, she plans to study graphic design at the University of Southern Indiana.

 

Junior Jacob Schadegg is the son of Ron and Shelly Schadegg of Breese.  Since his freshman year, Jacob as enrolled in multiple honors classes, including Algebra II & Trigonometry and Chemistry Honors as a junior.  Outside the classroom, Jacob is a three-year member of the basketball team and a two-year member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and National Honor Society.  In the community, he serves as a member of Breese Columbian Squires Circle #3115.  Finally, Jacob is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

 

Junior Faith Rackers is the daughter of Bruce and Amy Rackers of O’Fallon.  Since her freshman year, Faith has enrolled in all the honors English, mathematics, and science courses.  As a junior, her courses include Advanced Placement (AP) American History, American Literature Honors, Chemistry Honors, Composition Honors, and Pre-Calculus.  Outside the classroom, Faith is a three-year member of the cross country team and soccer team, a two-year member of National Honor Society, and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors and Student Council.  For soccer, she received the Offensive Player of the Year award her freshman and sophomore year, as well as the MVP award her sophomore year.  Finally, Faith is a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, where she serves as a gift bearer, greeter, lector, and server.

 

Sophomore Josh Schmitt is the son of Sam and Kim Schmitt of Albers.  As a sophomore, his courses include Geometry Honors.  Outside the classroom, he is a two-year member of the soccer team, for which he serves as a captain, and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors.

 

Sophomore Elizabeth Beckmann is the daughter of Brian and Kim Beckmann of Aviston.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Elizabeth has enrolled in the honors science courses.  As a sophomore, in addition to Biology Honors, her courses include Algebra II & Trigonometry, English II Honors, Geometry Honors, and Spanish II Honors.  For her academic achievements, she received an award for Algebra I.  Outside the classroom, Elizabeth is a two-year member of the basketball team and softball team and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors, Student Council, and Teens for Life.  For softball, she received the Defensive Player of the Year award as a freshman.  Finally, Elizabeth is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, where she serves as a lector, server, member of Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM), and volunteer for Vacation Bible School.

Freshman Michael Redman is the son of Robert and Erica Redman of Germantown.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Michael’s courses include Geometry, which is traditionally a sophomore class, and Physical Science Honors.  Outside the classroom, he is a member of the cross country team, fall play cast, and Scholar Bowl.  He plans to join the spring musical cast and track team in the spring.  Finally, Michael is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where he serves as a lector and server.

 

Freshman Emma Huelskamp is the daughter of Mark and Karen Huelskamp of Breese.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Emma’s courses include Spanish II, which is traditionally a sophomore class.  Outside the classroom, she is a member of Art Club, the cheerleading squad, and P.O.P.S. (Power of Positive Students).  She plans to join the soccer team in the spring.  Finally, Emma is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where she serves as a server, and Breese Youth Ministry.
