The Mater Dei community is pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the third quarter of the 2025-2026 academic year. These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned high honor roll or honor roll recognition. Senior Alex Walford, son of Daniel and Lauren Walford of O’Fallon. Throughout his academic career, Alex has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior. For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for fifteen quarters, an academic letter his junior year, and an award for American History. Outside the classroom, Alex is a three-year member of National Honor Society and a first-year member of the musical crew. In his community, he is a member of Scouting America Troop 8094 (St. Clare of Assisi, O’Fallon). Finally, Alex is a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. Following graduation, he plans to attend Southwestern Illinois College before enrolling at University of Missouri to pursue a degree in geospatial information systems.
Senior Reid Emig, daughter of Colby and Becky Emig of Highland. Throughout her academic career, Reid has enrolled in nearly all honors courses for math and science, including Calculus, as well as English Composition 101 and English Composition 102, as a senior. For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for fifteen quarters, an academic letter her sophomore and junior year, and awards for Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. Outside the classroom, Reid is a four-year member of the cross country team, the soccer team, Student Ambassadors, and the track team; and a three-year member of National Honor Society. She earned cross country’s Bailey George Leadership Award (junior) and soccer’s Defensive Player of the Year Award (junior). Finally, Reid is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she serves as a Kirchenfest volunteer. Following graduation, she plans to attend Southwestern Illinois College to pursue a degree in radiologic technology and a certificate in diagnostic medical sonography.
Junior Bryce Toennies, son of Corey and Karen Toennies of Aviston. Since his freshman year, Bryce has enrolled in all honors courses for English, math, and science. As a junior, his courses include Algebra II Honors, Chemistry Honors, and English III Honors. For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for eleven quarters. Outside the classroom, Bryce is a three-year member of the golf team and a two-year member of National Honor Society. As a junior, he advanced to the IHSA Boys Golf Class 2A State Final Tournament (T-51), earned Metro-East Golf Coaches Association Class 2A All-Area First Team recognition, and received the Knight Golfer of the Year award. Finally, Bryce is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Junior Avery Von Bokel, daughter of Gary and Kristen Von Bokel of Germantown. Since her freshman year, Avery has enrolled in all honors courses for English and science. As a junior, her courses include Chemistry Honors, English III Honors, and Pre-Calculus. For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for eleven quarters, an academic letter her sophomore year, and awards for Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors, English I Honors, English II Honors, Physical Science Honors, Geometry, Spanish II, Theology I, and World History. Outside the classroom, Avery is a three-year member of Pep Club, a two-year member of National Honor Society, and a first-year member of FBLA, Spanish Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Student Ambassadors. She also serves as a peer tutor. Finally, Avery is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Sophomore Hunter Hochbaum, son of Robert and Melissa Hochbaum of Bartelso. In both his freshman and sophomore year, Hunter enrolled in college-preparatory courses. For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for seven quarters. Outside the classroom, Hunter is a two-year member of the football team and the track team and a first-year member of Pep Club. He has also served as a class officer for two years (current vice president). As a sophomore, he earned football’s Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Sophomore Sadie Holthaus, daughter of Laura Holthaus of Bartelso. In both her freshman and sophomore year, Sadie enrolled in college-preparatory courses. This year, her courses include Biology Honors and English II Honors. For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for seven quarters. Finally, Sadie is a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
Freshman Ethan Litteken, son of Brad and Melissa Litteken of New Baden. In his first year at Mater Dei, Ethan’s courses include Algebra I Honors, English Honors, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, he is a member of Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, the musical pit band, Pep Band, and Scholar Bowl. For his musical achievements, he was selected for the Clinton County Honor Band. In the community, Ethan volunteers for Meals on Wheels. Finally, he is a member of St. George Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server and a maintenance committee member.
Freshman Emma Meyer, daughter of Austin and Shari Meyer of Pocahontas. In her first year at Mater Dei, Emma’s courses include English I Honors, Geometry Honors, and Physical Science Honors. Outside the classroom, she is a member of FFA, Student Ambassadors, and the softball team. In Illinois FFA Section 22, she won the Agricultural Proficiency Award for Dairy Production Entrepreneurship. In her community, she serves as a member of Grant Prairie 4-H Club (Grantfork), Gateway Holstein Club, and the 2026 Illinois State Dairy Bowl Team. She was also named Illinois Holstein Dutchess in 2025. Finally, Emma is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she serves as an altar server, PSR classroom aide, and OCIA breakfast volunteer.
