The Mater Dei community is pleased to announce the Students of the Quarter for the third quarter of the 2024-2025 academic year.  These students were selected by the administration and faculty from the list of students who earned honor roll recognition.  Please join us in congratulating them and their families!

 

Senior Parker Huelskamp, son of John and Kim Huelskamp of Breese.  Throughout his academic career, Parker has enrolled in college-preparatory courses, including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for ten quarters.  Outside the classroom, Parker is a four-year member of the cross country team and track team and a first-year member of Teens for Life.  He also frequently serves as a cross bearer or candle bearer at all-school Masses.  In the community, Parker volunteers to assist at Community Link’s Buddy Walk and with Breese Youth Baseball League registration and equipment maintenance.  Finally, he is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.  Following graduation, Parker plans to pursue a degree in exercise science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

 

Senior Reid Koch, daughter of Dale and Monica Koch of Damiansville.  Throughout her academic career, Reid has enrolled in multiple honors courses, including English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 as a senior.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for fifteen quarters, an academic letter her junior and sophomore year, and an award for Horticulture.  She also earned recognition as an Illinois State Scholar.  Outside the classroom, Reid is a four-year member of Pep Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Student Ambassadors; and a three-year member of FFA (current president), National Honor Society, Sisters in Christ, and Student Council.  She received an award for FFA her junior year.  She is also a member of Camp Ondessonk’s Loyal Lodge of Ondessonk and Tekakwitha.  Finally, Reid is a member of St. Damian Catholic Church, where she serves as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, volunteer for parish events, and youth choir member.  Following graduation, Reid plans to pursue a degree in agricultural science at Murray State University.

 

Junior Camden Edwards, son of Rodger and Rachel Edwards of Carlyle.  Since his freshman year, Camden has enrolled in all honors courses for math and science.  As a junior, his courses include Advanced Placement (AP) American History, Chemistry Honors, English III Honors, and Pre-Calculus.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for ten quarters.  Outside the classroom, Camden is a three-year member of the bass fishing team and track team, and a two-year member of the cross country team and National Honor Society.  He is also a member of Boy Scouts of America – Carlyle Troop 281.  Finally, Camden is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

 

Junior Isabelle Tripp, daughter of Christopher and Lindsay Tripp of New Baden.  Since her freshman year, Isabelle has enrolled in multiple honors courses.  As a junior, her courses include Advanced Placement (AP) American History.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for ten quarters and an award for Physical Science.  Outside the classroom, Isabelle is a three-year member of Book Club, chorus, the fall play cast, Liturgical Music Group, the spring musical cast, and the yearbook staff (current editor); a two-year member of color guard, National Honor Society, and the track team; and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors.  She has received a Christian Service Award and two awards for yearbook.  She is also a member of Girl Scouts Troop 121.  Finally, Isabelle is a member of St. George Catholic Church, where she serves as a lector and Life Teen youth group member.

 

Sophomore Cole Emig, son of Colby and Becky Emig of Highland.  In both his freshman and sophomore year, Cole enrolled in honors courses for science.  This year, his courses include Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors and Biology Honors.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for seven quarters and awards for Theology I and Geometry.  Outside the classroom, Cole is a two-year member of the soccer team and a first-year member of Student Ambassadors and Student Council.  Finally, Cole is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he serves as a member of the St. Paul Youth Organization.

 

Sophomore Mariah Benhoff, daughter of Justin and Pam Benhoff of Carlyle.  In both her freshman and sophomore year, Mariah enrolled in honors courses for English, math, and science.  This year, her courses include Biology Honors, English II Honors, and Geometry Honors.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for seven quarters.  Outside the classroom, Mariah is a two-year member of the basketball team, Liturgical Planning Team, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the soccer team, and Teens for Life.  She received a St. Vincent de Paul Society award her freshman year.  Finally, Mariah is a member of St. Felicitas Catholic Church and Breese Youth Ministry, for which she serves as a confirmation retreat volunteer.

 

Freshman Mason Schroeder, son of Nick and Karen Schroeder of Albers.  In his first year at Mater Dei, Mason is enrolled in college-preparatory courses.  For his academic achievements, he has earned honor roll recognition for three quarters.  Outside the classroom, Mason is a member of Pep Club, the soccer team, and Teens for Life.  In the community, he volunteers at American Legion – Albers Post #1026.  Finally, Mason is a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he serves as an altar server.

 

Freshman Raegan Jezek, daughter of Shaela Bates of Sandoval and Brandon Jezek of Lake St. Louis, MO.  In her first year at Mater Dei, Raegan’s courses include Algebra I Honors, English I Honors, and Physical Science Honors.  For her academic achievements, she has earned honor roll recognition for three quarters.  Outside the classroom, Raegan is a member of the cheer team, golf team, Marketing Club, and Student Ambassadors.  Finally, Raegan is a member of City Hope Church.
