Mater Dei football players and varsity cheerleaders conducted a special mission collection during the week of September 17-21 for Dillon Albers, a Central student and Cougar football player, who suffered a traumatic brain injury this summer. After dealing last year with the struggles of fellow MD student and football player Kane Weinberg, the football Knights and varsity cheerleaders decided to sponsor this special collection for Dillon and his family for their service project. Before the start of the annual Milk Bowl, a check for $850 was presented to current Central football player, Jake Albers, Dillon’s cousin, who represented the Albers Family. Making the presentation before the Milk Bowl were Central football coach Jim Short, MD football coach Jim Stiebel, MD football captains Mike Martz, Grant Kueper, Jake Albers, Jordan Lampe, and cheerleaders Sarah Koopmann, Larissa Jacob, Clare Chiarolanza, and Mary Jo Hollenkamp.
